"A Puppy's Tale"

"A Puppy's Tale", written by Grant Merritt, is a heartwarming story for all dog lovers, ages 4 and up. It is inspired by Grant's own childhood spent together with his beloved furry best friend, Achilles, a joyful German Shepherd. Narrated from the dog's perspective, the story is filled with warmth and laughter, also touching on the theme of loss, but does so with a delicate approach suited for children.

Technique and Process

The commission to illustrate this book was both challenging and rewarding.

The author had a detailed vision of how he wanted the design and images to look like - a classic hand-made aesthetic, naturalistic instead of abstract, warmth and emotion emanating from every page. The commission for perfect for me, as I am a lover of classic beauty too. So by following his indications and adding my own input we manage to finalised this book in about 3 months and a half.

The illustrations were created in pencil on paper, then scanned and coloured digitally in Photoshop.
