"Mathias and His Invisible Friends"
"Mathias and His Invisible Friends" is a short Romanian illustrated story, written with love and compassion by Alexandra Mărginean and Dr. Mihaela Vlăiculescu. This book is dedicated to all children who live with type 1 diabetes and its purpose is to help them, their families and friends to understand this health condition, in a manner that is simple yet informative, while at the same time speaking about acceptance, courage and true friendship.
Technique and Process
This small project was a pleasure to work on. The deadline was very tight (one month) and my task was to create a series of 15 illustrations and other small decorations illustrations, that would be beautiful to the eye but also educative. Because I had to work fast without compromising on quality I chose to combine pencil and digital colouring, this time choosing to enhance the sketchy look of the lines and make the pencil lines stand out more, for a playful effect.
